The aim of the "#Project1Hour” was to develop concrete ideas and steps. Whether in the use of energy in production, in the choice of means of transport on business trips or privately in the selection of the electricity tariff, whether in the personal diet or in dealing with consumption. Everyone can contribute to the fight against climate change with their professional and private decisions.
#Project1Hour was a team workshop in April 2021 for all employees in all brands and all divisions of the Volkswagen Group and for all levels. #Project1Hour was conducted in over 30 languages at the workplace – on site or digitally. The main components were a climate quiz, a CO2 quick test and a group task on one's own climate protection contribution. The workshop resulted in many voluntary commitments to reduce one’s personal CO2 footprint. In addition, the participants developed many ideas for CO2 reduction for the whole team or for even the entire company. The ideas and commitments were shared on a digital platform to motivate others and to learn from each other. With particularly committed climate protectionists from the workforce, the campaign was continued in the form of a community of "Climate Action Pioneers". Here, employees who want to deal in depth with their own contribution to climate protection find support.
After the successful premiere, #Project1Hour took place again in 2022: For the first time, employees had the opportunity to review their own voluntary commitments: What has been achieved? What not? What is possible on top? New materials for the workshops also offered the opportunity for a professional deepening and more variety.
This workshop was held again in 2023: From 10 April 2023, all employees were invited to attend. This time, it was less about general information and raising awareness about climate protection and more about concrete action. This time, the focus of the one-hour workshop was on measures that employees can plan bindingly - or at best implement immediately. At the end of the campaign period on 22 April 2023, the day of the worldwide "Earth Day", the Volkswagen Group's workforce once again made a tangible contribution to climate protection.
