The production sites of the Volkswagen Group are strategically located around the world to ensure efficient manufacturing and delivery of vehicles. Our international innovation centers serve as catalysts for groundbreaking research and emerging technologies, collaborating closely with the group's brands to translate new ideas into reality – shaping our vehicles of the future. Within our global network of development sites, we bring high-performance software and automated systems with artificial intelligence to production readiness for practical application within the company.

Furthermore, we are establishing battery cell factories to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicles. Volkswagen Group’s battery company PowerCo, has already identified three locations for battery cell production: Salzgitter (Germany), Valencia (Spain), and St. Thomas (Canada).

Our presence in Europe underscores our close ties to the region. The company operates ten core brands from five European countries, organized into brand groups:

Brand Group Core with Volkswagen (Wolfsburg, Germany), Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (Hannover, Germany), SKODA (Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic), SEAT, and CUPRA (Barcelona, Spain)

Brand Group Progressive with Audi (Ingolstadt, Germany), Lamborghini (Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy), Bentley (Crewe, United Kingdom), Ducati (Bologna, Italy)

Brand Group Sport Luxury with Porsche (Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany)

Europe plays a central role in our global strategy for research and development in the automotive industry. Here, we have established numerous innovation centers and production facilities, contributing significantly to the development of new technologies and vehicles worldwide.

For the Volkswagen Group, China is a pivotal growth market and a driving force for innovation in electromobility and connected automated driving, crucial for the company's transformation in the automotive industry. We adopt the "In China, for China" approach, emphasizing accelerated innovation and promoting technological localization to meet customer needs. In line with the strategy, we are establishing with the Volkswagen China Technology Company (VCTC) in Hefei the largest procurement and development center of the group outside Germany in China to gear products more quickly to needs of Chinese customers. Agile working methods, efficient networking of different areas and use of state-of-the-art technologies will shorten development time for new products by 30 per cent. Thereby adapting the dynamics of the market and strengthening the competitiveness.

The Volkswagen Group has initiated a dedicated growth program for North America, committing to substantial investments in the region. This includes expanding PowerCo's cell production from Europe to Canada. Our first battery cell factory in North America will break ground in St. Thomas, Ontario. Additionally, we are introducing one of the broadest portfolios of fully electric vehicles in the U.S. We've already inaugurated an electric assembly line in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and have plans to significantly expand charging infrastructure across the continent through Electrify America. The Group will also electrify the iconic American brand Scout, setting up an electric car factory near Columbia, South Carolina.

Overall, the Volkswagen Group's strategy is centered around profitability, electrification and a more balanced global footprint with a focus on innovation, sustainability and customer centricity to shape the mobility of the future.
