Pfitzner (49) studied environmental engineering at Berlin University of Technology and ETH Zurich and received management training at Harvard Business School. He has extensive experience in the fields of sustainability, climate protection and strategy. Most recently, as Vice President Sustainability with Siemens AG, he was responsible for the worldwide carbon neutrality program. In their functions, Pfitzner and Prätorius will both report to Dr. Thomas Steg, General Representative of the Volkswagen Group for External Relations and Sustainability.

Wolfsburg. The Volkswagen Group is consistently expanding its activities in the field of sustainability. From January 1, 2018, the new Head of Group Sustainability is to be Ralf Pfitzner. In this function, he succeeds Dr. Gerhard Prätorius, who is to focus entirely on the coordination of the Volkswagen Group's International Sustainability Council and the implementation of the projects proposed by the Sustainability Council from January onwards.
