Volkswagen Group deliveries grow 7.1 percent in first half year
The Volkswagen Group recorded the best ever first half year in its history, delivering 5.5 million vehicles to customers. Deliveries in June grew 4.1 percent to 958,600 new vehicles. “This was the best-ever first half year in our company’s history. Group deliveries increased significantly in all core regions. Our core brands recorded strong growth in the first half year”, Fred Kappler, Head of Group Sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, said. “We expect deliveries in the second half of 2018 to be affected by the introduction of the new WLTP standard. Some vehicles will probably be handed over to customers later than planned”, Kappler went on to say.

Jürgen Rittersberger named General Secretary and Senior Vice President Group Strategy
2018. Jürgen Rittersberger (46), formerly General Secretary and Vice President Corporate Development at Porsche AG, has been named General Secretary and Senior Vice President Group Strategy at Volkswagen AG effective September 1, 2018. He succeeds Dr. Thomas Sedran, who becomes CEO of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand from September 1.

Thomas Sedran to become CEO of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand
Dr. Thomas Sedran, General Secretary and Senior Vice President Group Strategy at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, has been appointed CEO of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand effective September 1, 2018. In this function, he takes over from Dr. Eckhard Scholz, who is stepping down at his own request. Thomas Sedran’s successor will be announced at a later date.

Volkswagen Group Components makes progress with realignment
In future, Volkswagen’s component development and production activities are to become even more efficient and flexible. By analogy with the Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands, Components is to become an independent corporate entity under the umbrella of Volkswagen AG with effect from January 2019. The realignment process which is currently in progress is focusing on aspects such as changes in the structure of the business areas, slimmer management and board systems and a Group-wide added value strategy.

For Volkswagen customers, there are many ways of configuring their ideal Golf. This plays a key role for programmer Lars Gohr. At Volkswagen’s Software Development Cen-ter (SDC) in Wolfsburg, he contributes his expert knowledge to the development of soft-ware applications. Volkswagen Truck & Bus completes transformation into a stock corporation
The legal transformation of Volkswagen Truck & Bus into a German Aktiengesellschaft (AG) has been successfully completed. The new legal form became formally effective with yesterday's entry in the Commercial Register of the Munich District Court. Volkswagen Truck & Bus will now operate under the name Volkswagen Truck & Bus AG until the name change into TRATON AG will be implemented in a few weeks.

Data scientists at Volkswagen work on the pre-dictive analysis of large data volumes
Digitalization and networking are creating more and more data: Big Data. The data are only useful if you can “read” or interpret them. At the Volkswagen Group, specialists like Gabriele Compostella are working in this area. At the Group IT Data Lab, he is part of a team using human reasoning to analyze big data with the support of artificial intelligence. Volkswagen defines new Group structure more precisely: brands assume responsibility for regions
The Volkswagen Group is pushing ahead with the structural realignment of its organization. In future, one lead brand will assume steering responsibility for a clearly defined region of the world across the Group. Dr. Herbert Diess, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, says: “We are distributing the responsibility across several shoulders. This means that it will be possible to take decisions in a significantly more decentralized way in the future and the Group Board of Management will be able to concentrate on overarching strategic topics. This way, we will make Volkswagen faster, slimmer and more efficient.”

Group CEO Diess in Israel: political talks and meetings with innovative start-ups
One of his first foreign trips in his new capacity as Chief Executive Officer of Volkswagen AG took Dr. Herbert Diess to Israel. In addition to meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Diess visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. A new Champion for a new era: Volkswagen Truck & Bus to become TRATON GROUP
Today, Volkswagen Truck & Bus revealed to its Top Management that the organization will be renamed into TRATON GROUP. This new branding is another milestone on the Group’s way to increase independence even further and towards capital market readiness.
The specified fuel consumption and emission data does not refer to a single vehicle and is not part of the offer but is only intended for comparison between different types of vehicles. Additional equipment and accessories (additional components, tyre formats, etc.) can alter relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics, affecting the vehicle's fuel consumption, power consumption, CO₂ emissions and driving performance values in addition to weather and traffic conditions and individual driving behavior.
