Looking back on a one-year record of the well-received Volkswagen Art4All format, Volkswagen and Neue Nationalgalerie are now extending their free entry visitors’ program. Starting this week, the renowned museum and its collection can be visited for free every Thursday. On a weekly basis, the museum opens its doors Thursdays between 4 and 8 p.m. for the Volkswagen Art4All hours.

The Volkswagen Group will restructure the Board Procurement functions on the Group level and at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars and MAN Truck & Bus brands at the start of the year. Effective January 1, 2023, Dirk Große-Loheide will assume responsibility for Group Procurement and will become a member of the Extended Executive Committee in which the Group bundles the horizontal functions procurement and production, quality, sales, design and development. At the same time, he will also become the Board member responsible for Procurement at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. Große-Loheide will succeed Murat Aksel, who will join the Board of Management of MAN Truck & Bus effective January 1, 2023. Murat Aksel will assume responsibility for Procurement on the Board of Management of MAN Truck & Bus from Stefan Gramse, who will move to a Group function at Volkswagen. At Audi, Große-Loheide will continue to oversee the Board Procurement functions and IT on a temporary basis until his successor is appointed. The restructuring at the Group will bolster its procurement operation in volatile times and will position it to tackle the challenges of the future.

The results of the annual opinion barometer for the Volkswagen Group are out. With an overall score of 82.4, the mood index rose once again by +0.1 point compared with last year’s level. As a result of this rise, the Group recorded its highest score on the opinion barometer since its inception. The Volkswagen Group received its highest individual rating (88.0 index points) regarding the opportunity to act with integrity in the company.

At the Extraordinary General Meeting of Volkswagen AG, the shareholders followed the proposal of the Board of Management and Supervisory Board and approved a special distribution of EUR 19.06 per ordinary and preferred share entitled to dividend with a majority of 99,9974 percent. This corresponds to a payout ratio of 49 percent of the total gross proceeds from the value of the placement of 25 percent of the preferred shares of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG before implementation of the stabilization measures in connection with the IPO of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and from the sale of 25 percent plus one share of the ordinary shares of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG to Porsche Automobil Holding SE.

The Volkswagen Group is restructuring the two cross-brand functions of quality and design. The aim is a closer connection to the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi and Porsche main brands, in order to ensure consistent focus on customer needs. The Group Board of Management also expects the new structure to facilitate clearer priority setting and faster implementation amid the sweeping change being experienced by the industry and the demands associated with this change. Effective January 1, 2023, Michael Neumayer will assume leadership of the Quality Management division while retaining his position as Head of Quality at Audi. He will replace Frank Welsch, who is retiring after nearly 30 years of service in the Group. Also effective January 1, 2023, Michael Mauer will become Head of Group Design while also retaining his position at Porsche. He will replace Klaus Zyciora who is leaving the company to pursue tasks outside the Group. Following the restructuring of the Group Board of Management that was completed in September, all key functions have now been assigned to the Group’s leading brands: production and procurement to the Volkswagen Passenger Cars, sales and quality to Audi and design and development to Porsche. The primary jobs of the Group function will be to coordinate activities and tap synergies.

The Volkswagen Group and Enel X Way, the Enel Group’s company dedicated to electric mobility, announced today the launch of their equally-owned joint venture Ewiva, which aims to accelerate the uptake of electric mobility in Italy promoting the development of a reliable and capillary high-power charging (HPC) network across the country. Today’s announcement and opening of the first Ewiva’s premium recharging station in Rome mark the successful continuation of the close cooperation between the Enel Group and Volkswagen to provide a full e-mobility ecosystem in Italy.

Volkswagen AG and its charging and energy brand Elli have reached their next milestone: With 400,000 charging points, Elli is now operating the greatest charging network in Europe, with more than 800 providers in 27 countries. Over the past 18 months, the network has doubled in size by adding about 200,000 new charging points. Elli most recently expanded its network in western and northern Europe by adding the Swedish energy company Vattenfall and the Dutch fast-charging specialist Fastned.

The Volkswagen Group and its battery company PowerCo SE founded in July 2022 intend to accelerate the build-up of their global battery business through rapid expansion to North America. Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume and the Canadian Minister for Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, signed in Wolfsburg today an Addendum to the non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of August this year to identify suitable sites for a cell factory in Canada. The two parties will continue their cooperation in the areas of battery value creation, raw material supply chains and cathode material production which had been established in August. Furthermore, PowerCo and materials technology group Umicore have agreed to investigate a strategic supply agreement on cathode material for North America. In September, the two companies had announced that they would cooperate in Europe by forming a joint venture for precursor and cathode material production.

As a founding member of 42 Wolfsburg, which opened in spring of 2021, Volkswagen recognized the potential of the novel peer-based training concept for its transformation to a software-centered mobility provider from the beginning. Together with its software subsidiary CARIAD, Volkswagen is once again expanding its dedication to promoting the next generation of highly qualified coding experts and – along with its partners Bayer, Capgemini, Microsoft, SAP and T-Systems – providing 42 Berlin with funding in the range of double-digit millions. Additionally, Volkswagen and CARIAD are making their global network and expertise available to the students, for example through mentoring programs and internships. Following 42 Wolfsburg, 42 Heilbronn and 42 Prague, 42 Berlin is the fourth iteration that the Volkswagen Group is funding as part of the 42 network.

Volkswagen congratulates holocaust survivor and former forced labourer Sara Frenkel-Bass on her 100th birthday. All her life she has campaigned for respect and tolerance, and to ensure the past is not forgotten.
