On average Germans spend 41 hours a year looking for a parking space, the British spend 44 hours and residents of New York even spend 107 hours a year. The Volkswagen Group wants to give this time back to its customers and it has a clear vision: in future we simply leave our car at the entrance to the car park and the car looks for a parking space and parks autonomously – without any stress, scratches and especially without wasting any time. A pilot project from the Volkswagen Group shows how this is possible. In a multi-storey car park near the terminal of Hamburg Airport experts are currently testing autonomous parking with Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche vehicles. The project is part of the mobility partnership with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg that aims to develop Hamburg as a model city for urban mobility. The target is for the first customers to be able to test the new autonomous parking service at the beginning of the next decade. And then there will be an end to the search for parking spaces and passengers can head straight to the terminal.

The Board of Management and Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft have resolved to extensively revise the Group’s management structure. Volkswagen is thus systematically continuing to transform its business and establishing even more efficient Group management in a phase of highly dynamic change in the Company and the entire automotive industry. In order to sustainably implement the new structure, there will be a number of changes on the Board of Management. Matthias Müller steps down as Chairman of the Board of Management by mutual agreement, effective immediately. At its meeting on Thursday, the Supervisory Board appointed Dr. Herbert Diess as his successor. Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans Dieter Pötsch expressly thanked Müller for his dedication: “Matthias Müller has done outstanding work for the Volkswagen Group. He assumed the chairmanship of the Board of Management in the fall of 2015 when the Company faced the greatest challenge in its history. Not only did he safely navigate Volkswagen through that time; together with his team, he also fundamentally realigned the Group’s strategy, initiated cultural change and, with great personal commitment, made sure that the Volkswagen Group not just stayed on track but is now more robust than ever before. For that, he is due the thanks of the entire Company.”

Hino Motors, Ltd. and Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH signed an agreement aiming to build a mutually beneficial strategic long-term partnership on eye-level.

Just about three years after the formation of Volkswagen Truck & Bus, the Volkswagen Group has taken an important step to prepare the company for its capital market readiness. Capital market readiness opens up a wide range of opportunities for the Group's sustainable further development on its way to becoming a Global Champion.

After a few months of preparation, the stage has finally been reached: work has started on the construction of LNG vessels for logistics within the Volkswagen Group. Volkswagen Group Logistics, the operator Siem Car Carriers and the shipyard Xiamen Shipbuilding celebrated the "steel cutting" (equivalent to foundation laying in the shipbuilding industry) with an official ceremony in the Chinese city of Xiamen. From 2019, the two ships powered by liquefied natural gas will carry Volkswagen Group vehicles from Europe to North America. LNG drive systems will significantly reduce the atmospheric pollutants emitted by the ships.

As of 5th April the Berlin-based museum Hamburger Bahnhof will welcome the public on the first Thursday of every month for free visits of one the world's most important collections of contemporary art. Brought to life with the support of the Volkswagen Group, this new offer applies for visits between 4 and 8 pm on these days and enables guests to engage with the museum's exhibitions and new additions to the event programme.
