Volkswagen Truck & Bus increases unit sales in first half of 2017
Volkswagen Truck & Bus takes a positive view of the sales figures for the first half of 2017. MAN, Scania and Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus sold some 96,000 vehicles – for the Group as a whole this means an increase of 8%. The three brands have thus continued the strong upward trend from the first quarter of 2017.

Volkswagen Group delivers 5.2 million vehicles in first half of year
Up to the end of June, the Volkswagen Group handed almost 5.2 million vehicles over to its customers. This corresponds to a rise of 0.8 percent compared with the previous year. In the month of June, new vehicle deliveries rose by 4.2 percent to 920,700. "June was a very strong month for the Group and all brands improved deliveries compared with the previous year," said Fred Kappler, Head of Group Sales of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft. "Stable growth in core regions gives us reason to look forward with confidence to the second half of the year," Kappler added.

Volkswagen Group is backing virtual reality solutions for interactive collaboration in production & logistics
Diving into the deceptively real world of virtual reality (VR), for example exchanging ideas with Group colleagues at a logistics hall in the Czech Republic from Wolfsburg – the latest VR technology makes that possible for the first time. Experts from the Volkswagen Group have developed virtual reality applications for production & logistics that enable several participants to meet in a VR room. Following a test phase, the Volkswagen Group is now the first car manufacturer to roll out VR technology with the HTC VIVE-VR system. The Volkswagen Digital Reality Hub developed for this purpose together with the Innoactive startup bundles all existing VR applications, users and tools in the Group on a single platform. This platform is making its public debut at the Digility conference and exhibition in Cologne.

Dialogue-centred and self-critical: Volkswagen Group's sustainability magazine Shift wins international awards
'Shift. The Volkswagen Sustainability Magazine' is receiving broad acclaim within the communications sector and has been honoured with prestigious communication and design awards. The fundamental idea behind the Group's newly created magazine is a frank, self-critical and dialogue-centred approach to communication with external experts and representatives of interest groups. Shift thus symbolises the new beginning in the Volkswagen Group's sustainability management and stakeholder communication in the wake of the diesel crisis.

Startup Challenge: programming for the Volkswagen Group digital factory
Six startups from six countries spent 24 hours programming innovative software solutions for digital factory planning. Today, they presented their ideas to representatives from Volkswagen and Siemens at the Group Digital Factory Conference. Particularly promising solutions will subsequently be checked on the integration in the Siemens system architecture and the implementation at Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Group actively engages in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
The Volkswagen Group is participating in the ITS European Congress in Strasbourg from June 19 – 22, where it is presenting its activities for the intelligent transport of people and goods. As a member of the ERTICO – ITS Europe network, the Group along with other partners is showcasing intelligent, safe and sustainable mobility. In addition, the Group and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg have submitted a bid to host the 2021 ITS World Congress under their strategic mobility partnership concluded last year.

Volkswagen Group delivers 899,000 vehicles in May
The Volkswagen Group has handed over a total of 4.2 million vehicles to customers since the beginning of the year, on a par with the level for the previous year. The Group delivered 899,000 vehicles in May, an increase of 3.1 percent. "The Volkswagen Group recorded solid growth worldwide in May. The recovery on the South American market over the last few months is particularly encouraging. This is also reflected in our delivery figures for the region", Fred Kappler, Head of Group Sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, said.

Volkswagen Truck & Bus and Russian GAZ Group sign letter of intent
Today, Volkswagen Truck & Bus and the GAZ Group, a part of Russian Machines Corporation consolidating the machine-building assets of the Basic Element Group, signed a letter of intent in Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia, which will enable the companies to identify the possibilities for a long-term strategic partnership. The main focus will be on the delivery and joint assembly of components as well as joint product concepts.

Volkswagen Group Rus and GAZ Group extend their cooperation in Russia
The Volkswagen Group and GAZ Group, a part of Russian Machines Corporation consolidating the machine-building assets of Basic Element Group, have extended their successful manufacturing agreement for Volkswagen and ŠKODA models in Russia until 2025. Furthermore, the Volkswagen brand will in future supply 2.0 TDI engines for GAZ light commercial vehicles, opening up new business opportunities in international markets. The official documents were signed in Nizhny Novgorod in the presence of the Russian Minister of Trade and Industry, Denis Manturov, the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod, Valery Shantsev, and representatives of Volkswagen Group Rus.

Volkswagen launches new joint venture for e-mobility in China
The Volkswagen Group is expanding its successful engagement in the People's Republic of China with a new joint venture. In the presence of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Volkswagen signed a joint venture agreement with the Chinese automaker Anhui Jianghuai Automobile (JAC) in Berlin today. Each of the partners is to hold a 50 percent stake in the new company, which is to develop, produce and market electric vehicles and mobility services. "The new partnership is a further milestone in our electric offensive in China," said Matthias Müller, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, commenting on the agreement. "Just as we have played a key role in shaping mobility together with our partners in China over the past 30 years or more, we want to play our part in shaping the mobility of the future: electric, fully networked and in line with the needs of our customers."
The specified fuel consumption and emission data does not refer to a single vehicle and is not part of the offer but is only intended for comparison between different types of vehicles.
